President Obama’s campaign of bringing back America’s economy lies in the strength of the American citizens. His main intention is to improve the standard of living of the common people and so he is working on all possible sectors. One of the sectors that are unfortunately untouched by the so-called developers is the sector of moms. Nobody has thought about these moms that how they carry on the household responsibilities and look after their kids side by side. So President Obama and his team has worked out a program that has lots of scholarships for moms that are designed keeping in mind the hindrances that come along in a mom’s life.

There are number of single moms who have to fulfill their household responsibilities and look after the education and development of their kids too with very little financial aid. Most of them end up in low paid jobs and cannot improve their status because they don’t have that much money so that they could pay the fees for their further education. But if they are really committed and dedicated they could easily get the free financial aid for the completion of their education. These grants and scholarships will enable moms to improve their education or add up new qualifications so that they could add up to their salary as well.

If education is improved it enhances the overall job opportunities and open up many career options that can be more satisfying and rewarding. With the help of this program, moms can study through online education and earn a degree and in addition they can stay at home and look after their kids also. If you want to apply for any of these scholarships for moms, you will have to decide what course you want to study and then apply for the best suitable one.

If you are getting ready to attend college I’m sure you are wondering how on earth you are going to pay for it. Even graduating high school students are more and more often finding that they need to contribute in some manner to their college educations. Whether you will be taking out student loans, applying for scholarships or grants, or praying for some sort of work study program to come along there are a few things you need to know about financial aid at the college level.
First of all, financial aid can be a tricky beast. For this reason it is best to apply early and keep records of everything you send to the financial aid office. The information age has made things easier on one level and yet has eliminated the personal factor on other levels. However, if you own a personal computer you will find that Internet is an excellent source for financial aid and scholarship information. While the government offers a wide array of financial aid resources, there are many opportunities for you to get an education that do not revolve around government funding. You simply need to spend the time finding them.
Your local community is an excellent resource and a good place to start when it comes to financial opportunities for those preparing to attend college. Civic organizations and local businesses like to give out scholarships to promising students. Many of these have very specific requirements and you should pay close attention that you meet the qualifications before applying. There is no sense in wasting your time and that of the scholarship committee by applying for scholarships for which you do not qualify. Scholarships are preferable to student loans, as they do not need to be repaid. This is one of the most important things you need to understand when seeking financial aid for college. Loans are killers to your income for the first several years after graduation. The fewer loans you can manage to take out for your education the better. They are however there for those who couldn’t possibly afford an education without them.
If you don’t find the scholarships you are hoping to at the local level, you should check with the county in which you live, your state, and the school you plan to attend. There are excellent resources for each of these when it comes to financial aid. Within the college you will be attending you should consult your department head (for your chosen major) in order to see if there are any scholarships available. You will be surprised at the number of scholarships for which you may qualify. Apply for all that you meet the requirements in order to apply. Competition for these scholarships is often fierce but you never know when your letter of application might spark the interest of one of the panel members or you simply might be the most impressive candidate.
When applying for scholarships remember to read all the instructions carefully, make sure you have all the necessary documentation, and that you have checked and rechecked everything for accuracy and clarity. It takes time to make corrections and they can often be the difference in your being awarded a scholarship and the honor going to another student. Scholarships are by far the best route to go when it comes to applying for financial aid but you should be careful that you aren’t placing all your eggs in one basket. Try for multiple scholarships, work-study programs, grants, and if necessary loans in order to achieve your educational goals.

Although it may not make sense if you look at the economic state of the country today, college scholarships are out there and they are plentiful. The biggest decision is not which one to apply for, but in finding enough hours in the day to apply for as many as you can and get them in the mail before the application deadlines.

At the bottom line, college scholarships are a financial instrument that allows you to attend college and have part of all of your expenses paid for by the scholarship. This might be a discounted tuition rate, full tuition reimbursement, it may include books and lab fees, and it may also include housing expenses. When you look at the total cost of attending college over 4 years (assuming you can even DO it in 4 years), the cost of college is a very respectable four-digit number, perhaps even five figures. Having a scholarship to defray part of all of that cost can mean the difference between going to a community college versus a brand name college, or even worse, the difference between attending college and not attending college at all.

The difference between a college scholarship and financial aid is one very minor point, but an incredibly important point: a college scholarship does not need to be repaid after you graduate from college, whereas financial aid like a student loan does need to be repaid. To avoid having you worry about the loan while you are sweating out the courses, most student loans do not become payable until after you graduate, and offer very low interest rates. But then again, they still need to be repaid, whereas a real college scholarship does not need to be repaid.

Some people think that college scholarships are only for those students who meet a very narrow criteria, such as a star football jock or a musical genius. While this may have been the case at one point in time, this is no longer the case. In fact, most scholarships require only that you apply for them, and many of them do not even have a requirement that you demonstrate a financial need for it.

Is this fair? In my opinion, it is very fair. A student who shows the drive and initiative to go searching for college scholarships that he or she can apply for is much more worthy of receiving that scholarship when compared to the student who will not lift a finger to do even some basic research into it. The college admissions office is full of applications from students whose primary job was to lick the stamp that went on the envelope, but the rewards of a college scholarship should go to those who demonstrate the want, need, and desire to attend college, and have some understanding of the financial burden that such a goal comes with, and are willing to do their part to find a solution.

The bottom line is that scholarships are available, and many even go unawarded each year because nobody applied for them. Find as many college scholarship applications as you can, then sharpen your pencil and get to work!

It used to be that parents discouraged their kids from becoming artists. Now, the world of art is broad and can be very lucrative. And if you need another reason to convince your parents you want to go to art school, there are many schools offering scholarships and funding.Art scholarships run the gamut from drawing to painting to photography to design and even include art of the culinary, musical and literary variety. Many art scholarships are specific to a particular state, county, or even a college in addition to the art major or art interest/ability requirement. To get you started, here are some resources: Your University: Most Art Departments offer scholarships to students attending their schools, either directly through the school or through business, benefactors and foundations that support the school. Many schools also offer them to prospective students. If you’re attending or planning to attend a university, contact your Program Advisor to ask what scholarships may be available through the school or department (if you’re already attending, definitely check in with your Art Instructors, too!). Don’t forget to look for scholarship opportunities on the university department’s web site or on a bulletin board near the Art Department office on-campus, where they also are often posted. Here are some typical departmental scholarship listings: Baum School of Art Birmingham Southern College Cranbrook Academy of Art Goshen College Hendrix College St. Lawrence UniversityMost universities do offer scholarships to students attending their schools. That’s because they really, really want to keep you there. These kinds of scholarships are the easiest to find out about, but somehow overlooked by many students who could benefit greatly from the funding…and from the prestige of winning!Just to reinforce this idea of funding from your university or college, the Department of Education reports that at public universities, scholarship and fellowship expenditures have risen consistently from 1980 through 1995.This may be an indication that there are opportunities waiting for you. Again, at the very least, you should ask your Advisor about other sources if there are none available at your university for your circumstance. L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of The Future Contest. Established in 1988, the L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of The Future Contest is an ongoing merit competition for new and amateur artists. Run on a quarterly basis, an eligible entry is comprised of three science fiction/fantasy illustrations done in a black & white medium rendered from the artist’s imagination. Should the artist win with this entry, he is then sent a story from the companion L. Ron Hubbard Writers of The Future Contest for which to render an illustration. This illustration then becomes his or her entry in the yearly Grand Prize competition. More Liberty Graphics Art Scholarship – Liberty Graphics is a Maine company, designing and printing t-shirts with concern for the environment. We are committed to the local economy and wish to encourage local talent. Liberty Graphics conducts a yearly juried art contest, and presents the winner with a $1000 award. The contest is open only to high school seniors who are a resident of Maine. Each year the contest theme may change. This year the contest title is “Art and Our Natural Environment”. Entries should reflect an appreciation of our natural environment. More NFAA Arts Recognition and Talent Search ARTS (Arts Recognition and Talent Search) is NFAA’s core program. ARTS identifies high school seniors and other 17 and 18 year old artists in the disciplines of Dance, Film and Video, Jazz, Music, Photography, Theater, Visual Arts, Voice and Writing for scholarships and financial support. Through ARTS, NFAA annually awards up to $900,000 in cash awards (with individual awards ranging from $10,000 – $100)and makes available $3 million in scholarship opportunities to America’s most outstanding high school senior-age artists through its Scholarship List Service (SLS). More The Scholastic Art Awards -The Scholastic Art Awards honor students currently enrolled in grades 7-12, recognizing about 50,000 regional winners. Nationally, 800 young artists’ individual works receive Gold and Silver awards in each of 14 art categories. Art Categories are: animation, ceramics & glass, computer art, design, digital imagery, drawing, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and video & film. Graduating high school seniors seeking scholarships must submit a body of eight works of art or photography for Portfolio Awards to their regional office of The Awards. More The WorldStudio Foundation Scholarship – Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in the fine or commercial arts, design or architecture one or more of the design/arts disciplines below and plan to enter a career in the creative professions. Applicants must be matriculated (or planning to matriculate) at accredited colleges and universities in the United States for the fall of the coming academic year and intend on maintaining full-time status for the entire year. International students studying at accredited colleges and universities in the United States may apply. More Charitable Foundations – The competition to receive funding from charitable foundations is pretty stiff, even from the local ones. That’s because they do a very good job of soliciting applicants, and the awards are often larger than the smaller groups. Nevertheless, there are hundreds of these organizations giving away millions of dollars every year. If you know of any locally, you should inquire. Or, you can take a glance at these, too: National Foundations -Andy Warhol Foundation, Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts, Jackie Robinson Foundation You can see that there’s a lot of work involved just to find these opportunities…but that’s nothing compared to the work you’ll need to put in to win them.Bottom line: There’s plenty of scholarship money available in the arts. You just need to show that you’re worth the investment. And, if you are dedicated to pursuing a career in the arts, you may even enjoy the work it takes to stand out from the crowd anyway.

There are thousands upon thousands of scholarships available for minority women, but to close the gap on salary disparity in the U.S more women must apply for scholarships and graduate to do so.
Women make up at least half the collegiums student body in college but there are still questions about whether equity has been equal among genders.
Women have been excluded from persuading higher education for centuries because white males have been dominated the educational system, but over time there has been a shift in the number of women entering college.
With an increase of women entering college and equal equity in terms of salaries among genders are not quite equal, the demand for scholarships increases which makes the supply of scholarships even greater.
Now since there is a demand that created a supply for women scholarships, we are now going to look at different supply areas that woman can apply for.
Science and Technology Scholarships for women:
Many minorities like women are still underrepresented in the STEM subjects. STEM stands for Science – Technology – Engineering – Math. These fields are dominated and control by men and need more diversification.
To attract women and minorities to come to their college they offer scholarships in the STEM subjects.
Scholarships for Homeless or Low income women:
In the state of Massachusetts, women are entering college doors thanks to The Family Scholars Program. This program was design to develop growth with minority women who are serious about getting a higher education. It’s geared toward giving women support beyond the classroom by offering time management, tutoring and other support in the purpose of ensuring success.
Each Student may choose to attain an Associate or BA degree and will be paired with a woman mentor along with a site coordinator to enhance their success.
Single mom Scholarships:
Back in 2006 over half of families in the U.S. were headed by the single moms. This statistic, which was perform by a census poll also pointed out that these moms lived at or below the poverty level.
One challenge that single moms face is balancing the priorities that they face before them. Paying daycare fees, going to school and working outside the home is very hard to do. Some single moms have to make hard decisions about either stop going to school or stop paying daycare fees when they run into hardships.
In 1999, (WISP) The Women’s Independence Scholarship Program was started to help women who were once battered overcome education obstacles necessary for them to become financially stable. The intent and purpose is to position single mothers with children with the greatest challenges financially to obtain working skills to support their families. WISP use their funds to not only seek for women who are in financial trouble but to assist in educating them also.
Scholarships for international Women:
Foreign women who want to come to the United States and wish to study have an opportunity to do so. There are many scholarships available to women of the third world. For one, the AAUW provide funding to either US or Foreign female students who are interest in studying in other countries so that women can position themselves to come back give to their own country. If you are a medical student, the AEI scholarship is available. If you want to study in the U.S or Canada, grants from the International Peace Scholarship Funds are given to foreign women.
The Congressional Fellowships on Women and Public Policy have fellowships available to graduates so that they can seek out ways to be involved in the political world of activities. The Women Research And Education Institute is where women can study politics and perform research about different issues as it relates to a woman point of view, have awards available to help international women.
So these are just a sample of the many scholarships, fellowships and grants available to women. Women just take a position that you are going to step forward and elevate yourself to a new horizon by seeking out what interest you educationally and pursuing it fearlessly.

Answer this question… Have you ever wanted so complete your education but things have gotten in the way? There could be a number of different things that kept you from finally going back to school and completing important college education.

Did you have to drop out to take care of your family? Did not have enough motivation from people around you to push you to go back to school? I know list goes on and on about the circumstances the kept you from going back and completing your education.

Back then women were seen as the only caretakers of the house. With the recent turn of events women are seen to be power figures in nowadays. The one thing you need to understand is that your children will look up to you. And children often model their parents.

The best way you can motivate your own children to go to school and go as far as they can is to show them a good example yourself. Imagine being able to finish your education and provide more for your family and your children.

After years of struggling and living paycheck to paycheck don’t you think it’s time to make things happen your life? There is an opportunity available thanks to a new program in the US. They developed scholarships for mothers to go back to school now.

They give hardworking moms like you a chance to go back to school again without having to worry about the price of education.

The next step you want to take is to decide on what area or field you want to study for in college. The last thing you want to do is to study for something that pays you a little more than minimum wage. Choose a career that you know has a descent salary and good job growth.

Do you wonder how to get college grants and scholarships? Do you need funding to make your hopes of any college education or your dreams of going to a specific school a reality? If so, you need to know that college grants and scholarships exist for just this reason.
Many students think that they are limited in their chances to get college grants and scholarships because their parents make a lot of money or have equity in their homes. Sometimes, the parents are not able or willing to shell out the big bucks that colleges charge. But, you would be surprised to find out that the overwhelming majority of students do not pay the college’s “sticker price.” This is where college grants and scholarships come into play.
College grants and scholarships help students make up the difference between what they can afford to pay and what the college charges in tuition and fees. In an era when parents are increasingly unable to help pay for a university education as their stock portfolios and home equity shrinks, college grants and scholarships can help make up the gap.
A scholarship is generally a merit based award. For instance, the most famous scholarship is probably the athletic scholarship where a student gets a full ride including tuition, room and board in exchange for playing on a school’s sports team. But other scholarships exist as well. Colleges try to put together the best overall class and they use scholarships to entice students to their campus.
Students with high grades or test scores, significant community service or leadership, or certain artistic skills often are the recipients of institutional scholarships.
Scholarships are also granted by community organizations such as the Rotary Club, businesses, and foundations. While the requirements vary from award to award, they always feature some level of merit.
Sometimes scholarships have a need-based component, but they are usually based in large part on merit.
Grants are also free money. Unlike scholarships, the distinguishing feature of grants is that they are based on need. While there are general qualifications such as a minimum grade point average, grants are awarded to make up the difference between what the college charges and what the student can pay.
Sometimes the university itself steps in and helps the student with a grant. Other times, the state or federal government makes a grant. Perhaps the most famous grant is the Pell Grant which the federal government awards to students coming from the lowest quartile of the economic spectrum. These awards are for up to $4000.
College grants and scholarships are different from other types of aid because there is no work involved and they do not have to be paid back.
Work-study grants, for instance, are contingent on the student working a 10 to 20 hour a week job on campus. Universities prefer to hire students receiving work-study to fill their student assistant positions because the federal government foots much of the bill.
Loans have to be paid back once a student graduates from college. Because they are packaged as part of the overall student aid budget, many students do not realize what a hardship it will be to pay these loans back after they graduate. They leave college with tens of thousands of dollars in student loans that must be paid back on an entry level salary.
That’s why it is best to go to a school where the college grants and scholarships make up the bulk of the award package.
